The basics
Tirzepatide works on two of your own gut hormones at once, GLP-1 and GIP. By stretching out the signals your intestine sends after a meal, it quiets appetite, slows stomach emptying, and steadies blood sugar.
In SURMOUNT-1, a 72-week trial in adults with obesity, average weight loss ran from about 15 to 21 percent of body weight across the dose range. Those are full-dose numbers, and in practice the best dose is the lowest one that gets you results you can live with, which is why we micro-dose and titrate slowly.

What the evidence looks like
Strong. Tirzepatide has large randomized trials for weight loss and type 2 diabetes. SURMOUNT-4 showed that people who stopped regained much of the weight, so we pair the medication with labs, follow-up, and habit change.
